GoPantri helps your household plan groceries, find nearby stores, and shop for less. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it plain because your groceries shouldn't come with fine print you can't follow.
GoPantri ("we," "us") provides the GoPantri app and website at gopantri.app. By using GoPantri, you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service for you:
- Account. Your email address, used to create and secure your account.
- Location. Your address or ZIP and, if you allow it, your device location — used to find grocery stores near you and compare their prices.
- Household profile. Details you choose to add about your household: member names, types (partner, child, roommate, pet, and so on), age ranges, allergies, dietary preferences, health considerations, and discount-eligibility status.
- Shopping activity. The lists you enter, the plans we build, items you buy regularly, price watches you set, and your saved store preferences.
- Photos you provide. If you snap or upload a photo of a grocery list, the image is processed to read the items into your list.
- Conversations with Sage. The messages and requests you send to our in-app assistant, so it can respond and act on them.
- Basic device & diagnostic data. Standard technical information needed to keep the app working and reliable.
How we use your information
- Find stores near you and compare prices to build your shopping plan.
- Personalize suggestions for your household — usuals, timing, and each person's needs.
- Remind you where you may qualify for a store discount (we never apply or verify discounts ourselves; see below).
- Read grocery lists from photos and respond to your requests to Sage.
- Keep the service secure, working, and improving.
GoPantri shows no third-party advertising. With your permission, we do share and sell certain shopping data to grocery companies — you decide whether to take part using the opt-in / opt-out controls in the app. See "Selling & sharing your data" below for exactly what this covers and what it never includes.
Selling & sharing your data with grocery partners
Part of how GoPantri stays running is by sharing shopping data with grocery companies. To be direct: we may sell and share information about your shopping activity — the products you buy, and where and when you shop — to grocery retailers and their partners so they can understand shopping trends and reach customers. Under privacy laws such as California's, this is a "sale" and "sharing" of personal information, and we call it that plainly.
You are in control. GoPantri gives you clear opt-in / opt-out toggles in the app, so you decide whether your data is included. You can change your choice at any time, and opting out never limits your ability to use GoPantri.
What we never sell or share. We do not sell or share your health considerations, your allergies or dietary needs, or any information about children in your household. That information is used only inside the app to plan your groceries.
Health & dietary information
Health considerations and dietary needs are sensitive, so we treat them with extra care. You choose whether to add them. We use them only to tailor grocery suggestions (for example, flagging lower-sodium options). This is awareness to help you shop — it is not medical advice. This information stays private to your household, is never sold or shared with grocery partners, and is never used for advertising.
Discount eligibility
If you tell us you may qualify for a discount (for example, senior, veteran, first responder, teacher, student, nurse, or store employee), we use it only to remind you to verify and ask at the store. GoPantri never asserts your status to a retailer and never applies a discount on its own — any real discount is applied only through the retailer's or a verification partner's own program.
Children
GoPantri is intended for adults managing a household. You may add children as household members so their dietary needs are reflected in your plans — this is information you provide about your family for grocery planning. Children do not have their own GoPantri accounts, and the app is not directed to children under 13. We never sell or share information about children in your household. Please add only the details you're comfortable sharing.
How your information is shared
We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf to run GoPantri, under agreements that limit their use of it:
- Cloud hosting, database & authentication — to store your account and data securely.
- AI processing — your requests to Sage and the context for your greeting are sent to our AI provider to generate responses. This is used to answer you, not to serve ads.
- Grocery pricing — store and price lookups are performed through retailer pricing services.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or in connection with a merger or sale of the business — in which case this policy continues to govern your information.
Your choices & rights
- Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. Use the opt-in / opt-out toggles in the app to control whether your shopping data is sold or shared with grocery partners. You can opt out at any time.
- Access & export. You can download your data from within the app.
- Delete. You can delete specific categories of data, or your entire account, from within the app. Deleting your account removes your personal data from our active systems.
- Correct. Edit your profile and household details at any time.
- Location. You can turn off location access in your device settings; some store-finding features will be limited.
Depending on where you live (for example, California and other US states), you may have additional rights over your personal information, including the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your data and to limit the use of sensitive information. Contact us to exercise them and we'll respond as the law requires.
Data retention & security
We keep your information while your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the service, then delete or de-identify it. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No online service can be perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard the information you trust us with.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as GoPantri evolves. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above, and we'll let you know of material changes through the app.
